Where are the samples?

My pet peeve is when someone says they'll do something, and they don't... and that's exactly what I did- or shall I say- didn't do, when I said I'd post class samples in a few days and now its been a week!! YIKES!!   But, those who know me personally, will understand the kind of week I've had.  Let me simply say, it's the sort of event no one wants to experience in a lifetime... some of us do... a few select more than once (ouch!) and we all come through it stronger.   Sorry for being so vague, but its personal and now I'm ready. period.  Just ready for LIFE!

So, I've got my stamps ready to go:  Tart & Tangy... Fifth Avenue Floral... Happy Everything... Bitty Birthday... Technique- Cracked Glass!  Big Shot Die Cut machine is rolling along.... Yahoooooo!  stand by, good stamping things are happening, and thanks for your patience!  LORD Knows I've needed it.

Notecards - Always a great gift!!

I made these sets of notecards for Christmas gifts for my daughters 1st grade teacher, and for my sister- who also happens to teach 1st grade.  I typed the greeting in Word and printed it out on white cardstock.  Trimmed to 1" x 3 1/2" and layered it on top of some assorted Designer Series Paper.  Green 5 petal flower was punched out of Certainly Celery cardstock using the Stampin' up! 5 petal punch.  Smaller flower was punched from the Boho Blossoms flower punch, and adhered with a coordinating brad.  Super simple and looks adorable!

 
 

Merry Christmas Friends!

Merry Christmas to all my bloggin friends!  I hope you are enjoying your day with family and friends... cherish the good times and make memories with those you love!

Here's a picture of 2 wooden picture frames I altered by adding cardstock and (non-Stampin' Up!) designer paper.  THese were actually birthday gifts for friends of my daughters.  The names were made with Stampin' Up! chipboard letters, pressed into WHITE CRAFT ink, and coated with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder to make them super sparkly!!   The pictures in the center were colored by my girls- but it is meant for a photo in the center.

Are you saying- Dawn, why didn't you show us these a month ago so I could have made some for Christmas gifts????  Well- think of it this way- now you've got the idea all set for NEXT YEAR!!  Or even for a birthday later this year.

Shaving Cream is not just for shaving!!

I learned this technique years ago-- and was re-introduced to it by my friend Nancy... she was making some cards using this technique a few months ago and shared a sheet of it with me... I returned the favor by sending her this thank you card!  Want to learn the technique??  send me a comment below...

Supplies:

Cardstock:  Whisper white, Basic black, Regal Rose

INK: Basic Black;  Stamps:  Many Thanks (retired)

Accessories:  white generic shaving cream- non-perfume kind is better... Rose Red Re-inker, 1 3/4" circle punch, scallop circle, 1 3/8" circle punch, Boho blossoms punch, clear rhinestone brad, paper piercing tool, Regal Rose 5/8"wide grosgrain ribbon.

A couple of Christmas Cards with Merry Moments!

I took a lot of pressure of myself this Christmas and sent out a variety of cards to my friends and family.  In the past, I created one design and made 40+ cards... but I found this year that I had many "extra" christmas cards on hand and decided to get a picture of the girls printed up and put the pic inside the cards...  talk about low stress!!!   Here are a couple of the cards created...

Both cards use Garden Green for a base card, and the Designer Paper:  Merry Moments.

Stamp Set: "Christmas Punch" Level 2 hostess stamp set

Accessories: DIE CUT BLOOMS page 169 in current catalog, REAL RED;  Boho Blossoms punch to create the small layered flowers; bold brights brads and WIDE OVal Punch.

MORE Scrapbooking with Stamps

Are you stuck in a rut with your stamps??  Breathe new life into them by using them with your 12x12 neutral or solid colored cardstock... Check out my samples below:

This pages started with a 12x12 sheet of Whisper white, and I stamped the green leaves using the solid petal flower from PICK A PETAL Stamp set.  The masking technique is great to make the leaves look like they are overlapping each other.  All the bugs came from the stamp set CUTE AS A BUG in our current idea book and catalog.  INK Colors used are:  brilliant blue, old olive, real red, close to cocoa and basic black.  Sometimes all you need is a little bit to dress up a page-- all ready to add pictures of your Adorable little LUV BUG!

The next sample uses the following supplies:

12x12 Chocolate Chip Cardstock, Stamp Set: Think Happy Thoughts, INK: Regal Rose, Taken with Teal, Cardstock scraps of Taken with Teal, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Whisper White ... Don't forget your punches... I used the Scallop Circle, and a variety of circle punches from 1/2" to 1 3/8"... super easy border, but adds a nice touch to a plain sheet of cardstock.

Scrapbooking + Rubber Stamping = WOW!

A few weeks ago a friend of mine had a Stampin' Up! party and wanted to learn how to use her rubber stamps to dress up her 12x12 scrapbooking pages.  This was a challenge that I was up for!  But, in the end, I had so much fun playing around and found that the more I stamped, the more ideas I came up with... 12 pages total to share with everyone!   

You can see some of my first ideas back on this previous post and I'll show you some new ideas here...

OK- maybe I did show you this page before... but I like it a LOT better with my girls pictures on it!!  Now, I just need my title and journaling... one step at a time :) HA HA!

YES- this border is all done with stamps and ink!  I'll call it my ALL STAR Page.  I started with a plain sheet of 12x12 bashful blue cardstock- then took a 2nd sheet of cardstock and cut it to 8 1/2 x 8 1/2" square.  Centered it over the bashful blue, and used a stampin sponge with Brocade Blue ink to sponge all around the outer edges of the 8 1/2 x 8 1/2" square... that gives the soft colored border.  Then I stamped my random sports images in the same Brocade Blue ink and added 3 Large stars punched out of Brilliant Blue ink.  Great for any sports FAN!!

I used the same set of sports stamps on this page- but changed it up a bit.  I started with a plain sheet of White 12x12.... I know- you're saying- REALLY??   just a 12x12 white??  it is amazing how you can transform a plain sheet with stamps & ink.. 

OK- back to my directions- I took a variety of coordinating ink colors:  close to cocoa, Really Rust, Night of Navy and Ruby Red and stamped the images in somewhat of a pattern across the top and worked my way down.  DON'T be afraid to stamp parts of your images OFF the sides of the cardstock- that makes it look finished all around.   After stamping I came back with my STAMPING SPONGE and added some more Night of Navy ink in the white areas between images.... just enough to fill in that white space!

OK, my last sample for today has some pictures!!!  

This was truly FUN & EASY- what's better than that??  I stamped the title in a wavy pattern so it didn't matter if my letters were crooked!  THe bottom flower border is done with ALL Rubber stamps from the stamp set- Greenhouse Garden!!  Isn't it GORGES!?!?!  Ink colors used are:  Regal Rose & Rose Red,  So Saffron and Close to Cocoa and Brocade Blue- oh yea, and Certainly Celery for the little flowers.  This stamp set is perfectly designed for the 2 step stampin' technique...gives you a watercolor look with little effort!!   The 2 flowers that are overlapping the pictures were stamped on a separate piece of cardstock, cut out and placed on top as embellishments.   Voila!   I hope you like it!!
